Kapka Kassabova was born in 1973 in Sofia, Bulgaria. A writer of narrative prose and poetry, she grew up in New Zeland and she lives in Scotland since 2005. With her Balkan-set tetralogy, she explores the human experience through history, geography, and ancestral patterns: Border. A Journey of War and Peace (2020) was awarded France’s Prix du Meilleur Livre Etranger for non-fiction; Elixir. In the Valley at the End of Time (2023) is an alchemical dive into plant medicine and the healing power of loving connection; and Anima. A Wild Pastoral (2024) is an eco-survivalist odyssey with the last transhumance pastoralists of Europe. Her books are translated into twenty languages.
