Slađana Nina Perković is a writer and journalist. She was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in 1981. After completing her studies in political science at the Sorbonne, she worked as a journalist for many newspapers in Europe and the former Yugoslavia. She wrote a short story collection titled Kuhanje (“Cooking”), published in 2017, and the 2020 novel U jarku (“The funeral”), soon to be released in Italian by Voland press. In 2021 U jarku was shortlisted for the prestigious NIN Prize and for the “Meša Selimović” Prize; in 2022 she received a special mention from the jury of the European Prize for Literature. She is completing the writing of her second novel Lijek protiv melanholije (“Cure for Melancholy”), which will be released in early 2024. The collection is published with parallel text and has been translated by a group of Ca' Foscari students of Serbian and Croatian language and literature. Her works have also been translated into French, English, Bulgarian, Albanian, and Macedonian. She lives, works, and writes in Belgrade.
