Internship

During the study programme, students can carry out a period of professional training at a public or private firm agreed upon with Ca’ Foscari.
The students enrolled in the master’s degree programme in Welfare, Society and Social Work must successfully complete 10 ECTS of internship (equal to 250 hours of activity).
Each student can choose between different types of internships, depending on the selected curriculum (Social Service or Welfare, Policies and Social Research) and their preferences.

Social Service” curriculum:

  • students will complete their internship in social and healthcare organisations, under the supervision of a professional social worker;
  • Students who hold a bachelor degree other than Social Services must complete an additional 200 hours of activity (for a total of 450 hours), to allow them to acquire the tools and the skills to become a professional social worker;
  • internship abroad: internship takes place in foreign institutions and structures operating in the areas of
    welfare, research and social work.

Before starting the internship, it is mandatory to have passed some exams on specific subjects.

Welfare, policies and social research” curriculum:

  • internship within research projects: students are involved in ongoing national and European research projects run by professors of the study programme or partnered research centres;
  • internship within third sector organizations: students carry out their activity at third sector companies;
  • internship abroad: internship takes place in foreign institutions and structures operating in the areas of
    welfare, research and social work.

Upon request, a job / volunteer work coherent to the aims of the study programme may substitute the internship (in part or in full).
