On Saturday June 22nd, the city comes alive again for the highly anticipated ArtNight, this year on its 9th edition.
This special event, part of the official calendar of ArtNights all over Europe, was conceived and coordinated by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with the City of Venice.

On the evening of Saturday June 22nd, Ca’ Foscari will open its gates and kick off the night at 6.00 p.m. Make sure you head to the main courtyard of the University headquarters to receive free merch and gadgets!
Museums, foundations, galleries, bookshops, theatres and cultural associations will open their doors for free and the calli and campi wll be bristling with art and culture lovers.
Performances, readings, concerts, exhibitions and labs will show all aspects of artistic expression until the wee hours of the night.
The program includes hundreds of open institutions and events, from Punta della Dogana to the Musei Civici (which will also grant free entrance to the Museo Fortuny), from the Casa dei Tre Oci to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, just to mention a few.

Amongst the new initiatives for this edition we have “Waiting for Art Night Venice”: all the buildings displaying this caption will give free access for the whole day of June 22nd. The Venice Lido will also be added to the locations involved in the event and the movie theatres of the “Circuito Cinema Comunale” will sell all tickets at a discounted price of 3 euros.

Ca’ Foscari headquarters will host the “Gely Korzhev. Back to Venice” exhibition, dedicated to the famous Russian painter, one of the most prominent names in Soviet and Russian art.

Ca’ Foscari Tour will also organize free visits to Ca’ Foscari’s main building, Ca’ Dolfin and, for the first time, Ca’ Bottacin, a marvelous example of Venetian architecture reopened to the public after a lengthy renovation.

The CFZ Zattere library will welcome visitors to its “ID. ART:TECH EXHIBITION -CYFEST-12 International Media Art Festival” exhibit, a visual analysis on the topic of identification, in collaboration with CYLAND Media Art Lab and the Centre for the Studies of Russian Arts (CSAR)

The piece de resistance of this 2019 edition will be “The conversion of a horse - 23 Tableaux vivants inspired by the works of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio” by the Ludovica Rambelli Teatro company, starting at 9.30 p.m. (with additional shows at 22.30 and 23.30)
In the main courtyard at Ca’ Foscari, 23 Caravaggio paintings will come to life in front of the audience thanks to the skilled actors and their creative use of fabric and common objects, accompanied by the music of Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi and Sibelius.

After the incredible success of its past editions, Ca’ Foscari will also bring back one of the most beloved initiatives- on Sunday June 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Le petit déjeuner en blu - Indigo Mix Prints&Jacquard Malìparmi” will take place on La Certosa island . The event draws inspiration from the famous Dîner en Blanc concept, but turns it into a garden picnic where the color blue dominates the whole set-up, including clothes.
