Ca’ Foscari will allocate 50,000 euro to welcoming students, researchers and professors from Ukraine. The proposal was agreed upon during the latest meeting of the Board of Governors and will fund scholarships and visiting professor positions

The Board of Governors unanimously approved the proposal, which responds to the appeal made by the Italian Minister of University and Research, Cristina Messa, who asked universities to provide support to students and researchers fleeing Ukraine.

Tiziana Lippiello, Rector of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, stated: “The entire Ca’ Foscari community is deeply affected by the terrible war that is being waged against the Ukrainian people. Our community is ready to welcome students and researchers who are fleeing from the areas in which the conflict is raging. The initial funding that has been approved will allow us to give an immediate response to the requests that may come to us from the Ministry, and we are willing to take action in any other way that may be useful to help and support these people. Our hearts are with the people of Ukraine.”

Ca’ Foscari teaching staff and students have been expressing their solidarity through many initiatives

The Rector added: “We are also working on finding accommodation that can be made available if needed, both in our student residences and in buildings that will become available thanks to the solidarity of agencies and associations that have immediately signalled their willingness to help. For this, I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of the people involved.”
