International literary festival Incroci di Civlità held from 25 to 28 May

The 15th edition of “Incroci di Civiltà” took place from 25 to 28 May, with the participation of international authors who met the audience in person. 

This year, the festival was inaugurated by László Krasznahorkai — one of the most prominent Hungarian writers — and Antonio Scurati — the author of “M” and of other extraordinary novels and essays, and winner of important literary awards.

The festival was organised and hosted by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in collaboration with Fondazione di Venezia and the Municipality of Venice, and with the support of Marsilio, Fondazione Musei Civici, Eni, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel and AVA. 

Incroci di Civiltà promotes dialogue among different cultures and nationalities. It focuses on some of the topical issues of our time, bringing together different perspectives to build ideas and to inspire us.

This year, the festival featured 31 authors from 22 countries around the world. The authors met in Venice and were hosted in various historical buildings.

Incroci di Civiltà is one of the most important activities we host: it is a wonderful international event. Books allow us to live beyond life and this type of event serves to highlight the value of literature and of cultural debates.”

Flavio Gregori, Director of the Incroci di Civiltà festival: “This edition of Incroci di Civiltà is entirely in person. Writers return to the stage, to book signing and to developing a rapport with the public. The programme is — as customary — varied and enriched by authors from all over the world. Many Venetian institutions are also involved.”
