Following the message from the Rector on October 1st and out of respect for the tragedy that has struck our community, we are postponing the San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest to October 11th, from 7.30 p.m.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On October 11th, the San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest will return to Venice. The event will feature an evening of music with three emerging live projects and two DJ sets. This event is the outcome of a collaboration between Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the local Port Authority (Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Settentrionale - Porti di Venezia e Chioggia).

The San Basilio Waterfront Music Fest

The SBW Music Fest aims to showcase the creativity of Venetian students. Each year, we invite students who have composed original music and are studying in our city to participate. This year a commission formed by members of Radio Ca' Foscari and Ca' Foscari International College selected the three projects considered most suitable for the evening.

It was a tough decision due to the high quality of all the bands that applied. In the end, the performers in San Basilio this year will be the bands Ayub, Casa Gialla and Devil Misses Flowers

The event will consist of 30-minute performances featuring original songs and three sea-themed covers, reinterpreted by the performers. The music will kick off with a playlist from Radio Ca' Foscari, and after the concerts, we'll keep the party going with a DJ set by Hard Rock Cafè Venezia.

The event is free, and admission is allowed until the maximum capacity is reached. Hard Rock Cafè Venezia will also manage the refreshment stand.

Program

7.30pm - DJ set by Radio Ca' Foscari
8.00pm - Live performances:Ayub, Casa Gialla and Devil Misses Flowers
10.00pm - DJ Set by Hard Rock Cafè Venezia

Selected projects

Ayub

The band Ayub, consisting of Eugenio Cereser on keyboards, Eugenio Vidotto on drums, Francesco Rossi on guitar and samples, and Giovanni Maschietto on bass and synth, plays instrumental experimental rock with influences from jazz and unconventional time signatures. They have released one album, "In modo totalmente diverso," and an EP, "Sintesi".

Casa Gialla

Casa Gialla was formed in Venice in 2023 by Giovanni Bertiato and Giuditta Fabiani. The duo presents a new wave/post-punk project influenced by Anglo-Saxon and Soviet sounds, but with lyrics in Italian. Currently, the group has several original tracks, some of which have already been released on major digital platforms. The two members handle guitar and bass (Giovanni) and vocals and lyrics (Giuditta), supported by synths and drum machines to create the iconic sound that characterises this genre.

Devil Misses Flowers

Devil Misses Flowers is an indie rock band formed in 2015 in Treviso when its members were just 15 years old. After various live experiences—including opening for Pinguini Tattici Nucleari in 2019—they began a process that led to a change in lineup and new arrangements of their songs, adding drum machines and electronic elements to the classic setup of bass and drums.

San Basilio Music Fest 2024 is organised under the auspices of ASSI (Alliance of Italian Advanced Schools) with the financial support of DM MUR 231/2023
