Said to be one of the most interesting characters in Russian literature: Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. On 12th February 2018 at 6.00pm the vernissage of the exhibition Anna Karenina come specchio dell’epoca will take place in the exhibition space CFZ - Cultural Flow Zone at Ca’ Foscari University Venice, Zattere al Pontelungo, Dosodoro, 1392.

Anna Karenina has been the most popular book by Leo Tolstoy for 140 years. Translated into almost all the languages in the world, it has inspired dozens of directors and artists over the years, with different techniques and styles. Set among the highest social class of Russia, it is about eternal conflict between passion and loyalty, freedom and constraint, individualism and society; all ideas that have always tormented humankind.

The exhibition was organised by CSAR - Central Studies on the Art of Russia, and by CFZexhibitions. It is not to be missed. You can look through a time capsule into Russian society at the end of the 1800’s and become a spectator by looking at illustrations of the novel. The works of eighteen Russian illustrators will be presented by the Leo Tolstoy State Museum. Visitors will be able to feel like they are reliving the story of Anna Karenina. Additionally, the atmosphere of the second half of the 18th century will be recreated with great splendour thanks to the manuscripts of the author and the rare editions of the book that will be displayed.

The exhibition will be open until Tuesday 20th February during these hours:
Monday - Saturday: 10.00am-7.00pm
Sunday: 3.00pm-7.00pm
