La Città Vuota” (The Empty City) is a photographic project of photographer Francesca Occhi and graphic designer Sebastiano Girardi that will be exhibited at the CFZ from December 7th to January 7th 2018.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Wednesday December 6th at the CFZ - Cultural Flow Zone at 5.30pm.

Francesca Occhi, originally from Ferrara, has an “outsider” look at Venice, its campi and public space, that she explores without falling under its spell, in images with minimalistic white frames. The empty city belongs to all of us because it welcomes our bodies and our glances.

Venice is for Francesca a neutral, empty space without personal frames of references, that operates like a starting point to understand local geography and its symbols as geographic coordinates.

Venice from the top of its bell towers, from its canals, with a recurring geometry that supports our eyes longer than the wandering tourist’s. As Le Corbusier pointed out, watching, observing, seeing are three different things.

The photographs that will be exhibited include views of Ca’ Foscari buildings such as Ca’ Dolfin or San Giobbe.

An encounter with Francesca Occhi will be organized on December 15th at 5.30pm with Radio Ca’ Foscari on images in relation to space and territory.
