The Cus Venezia team made up of Ca’ Foscari and IUAV athletes has won the 18th edition of the International Universities Rowing Race. The University of Warwick placed second, while the third and fourth place went to the University of Vienna and Harvard University respectively. Ca’ Foscari Rector Tiziana Lippiello commented: "I am proud of the sportsmanship of all the athletes, who competed fairly and showed a great deal of team spirit. My congratulations to all of them!” The Italian Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa, and the Rector of IUAV, Benno Albrecht have also attended the Rowing Race, which took place on the Grand Canal as part of the Historical Regatta in Venice.
The International Universities Rowing Race has been organised with the support of Comune di Venezia and Ve.La S.p.A. The galleons are traditional vessels provided by Comitato Cittadino di Venezia per la Regata delle Antiche Repubbliche Marinare Italiane. Libreria Cafoscarina, Vetreria NT Murano Glass di Nicolò Trabuio, Azienda vitivinicola Capo di Vigna, and Atlantis Headwear have also contributed to the event.
