Ruskino: the Russian Cinema Festival returns

From the 7th–11th of  November, “Ruskino at Ca’ Foscari”, the Russian Cinema Festival now in its 7th edition, returns to Ca’ Foscari. The Festival opens at 4pm on Monday, November 7th in Aula Magna Silvio Trentin, Ca’ Dolfin, with the screening of the feature film Pro Lyubov (2014) by Anna Melikjan.

The initiative is promoted by the Directors of the Moscow International Programs and the Center for studies on Russian Arts - CSAR, in collaboration with the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Russian Foundation of Culture, the City of Venice and the "Venezia-Russia" Association.

On the 8th and 9th of November, the screenings will take place in CFZ – Ca’ Foscari Zattere / Cultural Flow Zone. Tuesday, November 8th at 4pm: Ptitsa (2016), debut film by the young director Ksenija Baskakova.  At 6pm, also at CFZ, the exhibition "BETWEEN CINEMA AND ART" POSTERS FROM THE M. GOR’KIJ FILM STUDIES COLLECTION" will open, presenting a selection of reproduced movie posters from the studio collections. The exhibition is free and open to the public until Sunday, November 27th. Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-10pm; Saturday 10am-7pm; Sunday 3pm-10pm.

After the success of the previous two editions in 2014 and 2015, the competition for the best in Italian subtitling of Russian films of recent production, designed for Ca’ Foscari students, will take place again this year. On Wednesday November 9th the winners of the competition will be announced: students will work on subtitling the films by two young directors, winners of the 35th International Student Film Festival of Pan-Russian State Universities, Vladlena Sandu, with the film "Kira" and Andrej Annensky with "Sunset".

On Thursday, November 10th "The Green carriage" will be shown at the Cinema Rossini at 8pm. Rounding out the festival on Friday, November 11th, will be the film "The End of a Great Era" by the eminent Russian film director, Stanislav Govorukhin.
All films will be shown in their original language, with subtitles in Italian. The screenings are free admission and first come first served.
