In the framework of the Tre Oci exhibition, ‘Arctic; the Final Frontier’, a conference on climate change, will be held at Ca’ Foscari, at 10am on Monday 6th March in the Ca’ Dolfin building.

The Arctic is a land of large space, images, and science: these are roughly the themes that the ‘Arctic; the Final Frontier’ conference covers, associated with the important photographic exhibition of the same name at Tre Oci. A forum of international scientists will debate the future prospects of this fantastic place, and how the Arctic’s change is reflected on a global level, including in Venice with the the elevating sea levels, for example. The event “Summit on Climate Change”, open to the public, will take place on Monday 6th March from 10am in the Aula Magna at Ca’ Dolfin (Dorsoduro 3833, Venezia).

After the welcoming address by Flavio Gregori, Provost for Cultural Activity and Relations, the following people will participate: Andrea Tilche (European Commission, DG Research & Innovation),  Konrad Steffen (professor ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL), Angelika Humbert (Glaciologist, Bremen University), Carlo Barbante (Ca’ Foscari and Idpa-Cnr), Jane da Mosto (Director, We are here Venice), Alfonso Saibene Canepa (Canepa SpA), Mauro Rossetti (Director, Health and Textiles Association), and Simone Molteni (Scientific Director, LifeGate).

The defence of one of the natural environments not yet taken advantage of by humans, the imminent danger of global warming, the awareness of the themes of environmental stability and climate change, and the dialogue between nature and civilization: these are the topics that surround the  ‘Arctic; the Final Frontier’ exhibition (at Tre Oci until 2nd April 2017), and the topics that scientists and experts will confront in the summit at Ca’ Foscari on 6th March.
