Antarctica: Drilling Campaign Reaches more than 1.2-Million-Year-Old Ice
The fourth Antarctic campaign of the “Beyond EPICA - Oldest Ice” project, funded by the European Commission, has achieved a historic milestone for climate science. An international team of scientists successfully drilled a 2,800-meter-long ice core, reaching the bedrock beneath the Antarctic ice sheet.
Ice loss in Greenland’s mountain glaciers
Conducted by CNR-Isp, in collaboration with Ca' Foscari University of Venice, the Universities of Freiburg and Copenhagen and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, the research used data acquired by satellites over 35 years and contributes to the understanding of the impact of global warming on the cryosphere. The results were published in the Journal of Glaciology.
2024 Nobel Prize in Economics to Acemoglu, Johnson, and Robinson
The 2024 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, was awarded to Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and James A. Han Kang wins the Nobel for Literature: guest of Korean seminar in 2023

A study by Valerio Dotti, an economist at Ca' Foscari, shows how the voting choices of the elderly can favour short-sighted policies on immigration and public spending. ‘Open immigration policies can be good for the public purse’. The study is published in the Journal of Public Economics
