Ca’ Foscari funds SPIN 2022 for excellence in research

Ca’ Foscari continues to fund excellence in research with the Supporting Principal Investigators (SPIN). The scope of the call is to receive proposals from outstanding talents to fund research projects with a maximum duration of 24 months in all scientific areas available at Ca’ Foscari. The call is open until 14 June 2022.

A mathematical model on how sanctions, duties and conflicts affect commerce

A new mathematical model can predict global changes in commercial and financial exchange. The research has been published in the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics.

Traces of vegetation and insects in the heart of Calderone glacieret

Scientists now have a sample of deep ice from the southernmost glacier in Europe and only glacier in the Apennines. The chemical analysis will allow them to reconstruct the past and environmental climate of the massif and of the surrounding regions.

A survey of the Calderone glacieret has prepared the ground for the core sampling mission scheduled for the end of April. The data shows a clearer picture of the current state of the southernmost glacier in Europe.

Private blockchains to be even safer thanks to NiRvAna project

The project aims to analyse the application of IT security features to private blockchain technology. It is coordinated by the University of Urbino and involves a research unit from Ca' Foscari, led by professor Sabina Rossi.

Marie Curie Fellow Animesh Gain on Water Security and Climate Change

AI to aid historians in restoring, placing and dating ancient texts

Ithaca is the first deep neural network that can aid historians in restoring the text of damaged inscriptions and in identifying their original location and date. Ithaca is the result of the PithyaPlus project of Marie Curie Fellow Thea Sommerschield, and it has been published in Nature.
