Edy Fantinato is Assistant Professor of Botany and Plant Ecology at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics, where he teaches "Biodiversity Monitoring Techniques" and "Biodiversity Laboratory". He is also a lecturer for the courses "First Introduction to Sustainability" and the Winter School on Biodiversity. He is the author of multiple studies published in international peer-reviewed journals, technical reports and book chapters. He has participated in several international projects, including LIFE16 NAT/IT/000589 "Redune" and LIFE19 NAT/IT/000848 "PollinAction" as project assistant, COST Action CA18201 "Conserve Plants" as co-leader of WG3 "Filling the gaps in plant conservation" and the CH JPI project ATLAS ("Studying symbiotic scenarios linking Heritage assets and green areas to prepare Historic Cities to face Climate Changes") as Principal Investigator. His research is mainly concerned with the reproductive ecology of plants and the conservation of biodiversity, with a focus on ecosystem restoration and urban ecology. He is Secretary of the Italian Society of Vegetation Science (SISV) and a member of the Eurasian Dry Grassland Group (EDGG) and the International Association for Vegetation Science (IAVS). He is also a member of the editorial board of Discover Conservation, Frontiers in Plant Science, Plant Sociology and Palaearctic Grasslands.
