Students must know the fundamental principles behind the properties and structural and reactivity features of the main classes of organic compounds. Students must have completed the general Organic Chemistry learning outcomes.
1. Platform chemicals and biorefineries (1.5 h);
2. Glycerol e glycidol (1.5 h);
3. Sorbitol and isosorbide (1.5 h);
4. HMF and FDCA (1.5 h);
5. Carbon capture and storare (1.5 h);
6. Chemical valorization of CO2: non-reductive processes (3 h);
7. CO2 as monomer for the preparation of polymeric materials (3 h);
8. Chemical valorization of CO2: reductive processes (3 h);
9. Photochemistry (3 h);
10. Electrochemistry (3 h).
The methods that will be used to assess the knowledge and skills acquired are an oral assessment (30-45 min) which includes a Power Point presentation aiming at applying one or more topic covered during the course to the current PhD research interest(s). The following objectives will be assessed: a) Green Chemistry Principles understanding; b) qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the overall sustainability of a given process; c) ability to effectively contextualize sustainability topics in current research interest; d) suggest original carbon neutral synthetic strategies.
Lectures will be organized in:
a) lecture-style presentation;
b) research themes given to small groups of students, to stimulate discussion, analysis and findings presentation to the class.
Accessibility, Disability and Inclusion

Accommodation and support services for students with disabilities and students with specific learning impairments:
Ca’ Foscari abides by Italian Law (Law 17/1999; Law 170/2010) regarding supportservices and accommodation available to students with disabilities. This includes students with mobility, visual, hearing and other disabilities (Law 17/1999), and specific learning impairments (Law 170/2010). In the case of disability or impairment that requires accommodations (i.e., alternate testing, readers, note takers or interpreters) please contact the Disability and Accessibility Offices in Student Services: disabilita@unive.it.
