Students are expected to
- have a deeper knowledge and understanding of Korean thoughts and religions.
- demonstrate a general understanding of the philosophical debate and religious practices, knowing how to trace relationships and comparing thinkers, currents of thought and values
- Know how to identify and contextualize thinkers, currents of thought, values in a broad historical-cultural dimension
- be able to find and critically use study materials such as monographs, scientific journals and digital resources
The student should have a good knowledge of the history of Korean religious traditions, acquired through (but not exclusively) the educational objectives of the course "Storia della filosofia e delle religioni del Corea 1". In addition, it is desirable for the student to have a basic knowledge of Korean history.

Week 4 Korean Folk Religion
Week 5 Yin Yang and Wu Xing (Five Elements)
Week 6 Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny)
Week 7 P’ungsu (Geomancy)
Week 8 Understanding of Korean Buddhism
Week 9 Buddhism and Korean Society
Week 10 Daoism and Korean Culture
Week 11 Understanding of Korean Confucianism
Week 12 Confucianism and Korean Society Today
Week 13 Body and Traditional Religions
Week 14 New Religions of Korea
Week 15 Religion and Traditions
Several Articles and Book Chapters, uploaded in the Moodle. Further non-compulsory readings will be presented during the lectures and made available on Moodle.
- Class attendance & Informed and Active participation in the class (Attending courses regularly are strongly encouraged)
- Final Exam (100%): Written-test (90 minutes) with multiple choice questions and descriptive essays.
Lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni con presentazioni Power Point. Presentazioni e materiali di approfondimento saranno poi disponibili sulla piattaforma moodle.
