Introduction to Politics is a course included in the PISE's "Attività formative di base" (basic activities).

USING THE MOODLE PLATFORM IS MANDATORY. THIS COURSE IS A 'BLENDED' COURSE: MOST OF THE TEACHING WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE. THE FORUM AND ALL ONLINE RESOURCES ARE THERE FOR YOU TO BE EXPLOITED TO THE FULLEST.

Knowledge and understanding
By the end of the course students will:
- Know the basic concepts of political science.
- Understand the functioning of a political system.

Applying knowledge and understanding
By the end of the course students will:
- be able to identify patterns of political behavior;
- analyze case studies drawn from various political systems;
- have developed basic skills in comparing different political systems according to the kind of government, state, electoral system, political behavior, political participation, welfare state

Making judgments
Students will be able to making critical analysis of the quality of a democratic system and of the expected outcomes of an electoral system in specific political contexts.

Communication skills
By the end of the course students will have improved their English communication skills through the classroom presentation undertaken of volunteer basis and through class discussions.
Basic analytical skills, ability to access an online teaching platform.

Students will have to sit encompassing the material covered in Politics Mod.1 and Politics Mod.2.
In order to be prepared for the exam is crucial for students to utilize the vast array of online resources associated with the Pearson companion website on comparative government as well as the Moodle platform. There students will find self evaluation tools, complementary material as well as further readings suggestions.
There will be an alternation of frontal lectures (in order to point out concepts and contents) and work group and exercise which have the aim of making more concrete and understandable those concepts.

Some material related to the course (slides and other materials) will be available on the moodle platform.
