This is a second-year doctoral course covering topics in economic theory.
To appreciate recent advances in economic theory, gaining both some familiarity with the basic models and a critical perspective on their reach.
You are expected to have successfully completed the first-year requirements for the doctoral program in Economics, including the comprehensive exam in Microeconomics.
Topics rotate every year, and may include very recent publications. For exemplification, here is the list of topics from past year:

1) ambiguity in decisions;
2) incentives in behavioural economics;
3) networks and markets;
4) economics of relationships;
5) economics of institutions;
6) matching markets;
7) organizational economics;
8) economics of persuasion;
9) dynamic contracts;
10) information design.

Topics may also change due to the specific interests of the incoming class.
There are no textbooks for this class. A selected list of readings is made available to students on the class website <http://mizar.unive.it/licalzi/advmicro.html> ;
The grade is obtaned as the addition of:

- written work submitted before class 15%
- written work submitted after class 25%
- class presentation 20% (teacher evaluation) + 10% (peer evaluation)
- research proposal 20%
- class participation 10%

A passing grade is equal or superior to 60% of total available points.
