Selection announcement for admission to the training course in Computational Neuroscience (SISSA)

The Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics (DAIS), in collaboration with SISSA (International School for Advanced Studies), Trieste, has announced a call for the admission of two students to the Computational Neuroscience training course at SISSA.
Selected candidates will be awarded an economic incentive of 5,000 euros per year and, upon finalizing their studies, will receive the master's degree in Computer Science - Computer Science (class LM-18) issued by Ca' Foscari University as well as the Diploma of the Common Educational Path in Computational Neuroscience issued by SISSA.
Candidates must be enrolled in the first year of the master's degree course in Computer Science of the University with administrative headquarters in the city of Venice for the academic year 2022/23. To be eligible, students must have achieved at least 18 credits with a minimum score of 24 and an average of 27 by the call submission deadline. Students who benefit from a scholarship for the right to study (Borsa per il diritto allo studio) or other scholarships or prizes granted by the University are not eligible.
To preserve the scholarship, the selected candidates must maintain a level of performance with a minimum grade of 24, and an average grade of 27, obtaining at least 18 credits by March of the first year, 54 by October of the first year and 72 by March of the second year. Furthermore, they must obtain the final degree within the extraordinary session of the academic year corresponding to the second year of course enrolment.
In order to be admitted for the final examination, selected students must obtain all the necessary credits, in compliance with the teaching regulations of the master's degree course at Ca' Foscari University, including the following specific activities of the Computational Neuroscience training course: Successful completion of an introductory course in Computational Neuroscience and Systems (consisting of 5 modules for a total of 12 credits) from October 2023 to January 2024 (requiring attendance at the Trieste campus of SISSA during the entire period); carrying out the internship and writing the thesis (30 credits) for a total of two semesters at SISSA. All courses and exams of the aforementioned path will be held in English.

To be complete, the application must include:

  • Copy of a valid identity document.
  • Letter of motivation, explaining the interest in the training course.
  • Curriculum vitae and academic record dated and signed.
  • Self-certification specifying the exams presented during previous academic courses
  • Self-certification specifying the exams presented during the current academic course
