Le stagioni e i mesi dei Bassano nel Rinascimento europeo

Aula Baratto, Ca’ Foscari, Dorsoduro 3246 - Venezia e online

At this year's edition of Gli Ospiti di RiVe 2024–25, Francesca Del Torre will be our guest speaker

Francesca Del Torre, "The Seasons and the Months of the Bassano Family in the European Renaissance"
Around the mid-sixteenth century, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, and Jacopo Bassano depicted allegories of the seasons in their paintings. Each of them offered a highly personal interpretation of the age-old theme of the relationship between nature and humanity, reflecting in a symptomatic way the culture of the society to which they belonged.

Francesca Del Torre is Curator of Italian Renaissance Painting at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Her research interests include 16th-century Venetian painting, 18th-century Venetian drawing and painting, and art collecting.

The conference will take place in the Aula Baratto at Ca’ Foscari University. It will also be possible to attend remotely via Zoom, upon registration at the following ZOOM LINK
