Who is Afraid of Gloria Anzaldúa’s Autohistoriateoría?

Mara De Chiara (University of L'Orientale Naples) and José David Saldívar (Stanford University), two prominent scholars of the American thinker and writer Gloria Anzaldúa, will delve into her work with particular focus on the new discourse Anzaldúa called "autohistoriateoría."

The seminar will consist of two presentations – "A Mural Made of Words: Gloria Anzaldúa" (De Chiara) and "The Name of Autohistoriateoría: Gloria Anzaldúa" (Saldívar) – followed, on the morning of April 29th in Room B, Ca' Bernardo, by a roundtable discussion moderated by three Ca' Foscari students.
The roundtable will feature three talks: 1) Beatrice Colina, "Adapting Autobiography to Theory: The Role of the Body in Anzaldúa’s Production"; 2) Giorgio Nardino, "The Italian Frontera: The Southern Question Through Gloria Anzaldúa’s Poetry"; 3) Irem Ercin, "Anzaldúan Theory: Redefining Belonging," and will be coordinated by Aleksandr Slepov.
