Becoming a reporter at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics: from dream to reality

Ca’ Bottacin (1° piano), Ca Foscari Venezia

Guest: Dr. Nicholas Keir Leonard Olympic Information Service- OIS Editor, Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026

The Ca’ Foscari International College is organizing the workshop “Becoming a Reporter at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics: from dream to reality” on Friday, November 8 at 11:00, with the participation of Dr. Nicholas Keir Leonard (Olympic Information Service OIS Editor, Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026).

OIS is an IOC (International Olympic Committee) service providing professional reporting and photography from Olympic and Paralympic events licence-free for editorial use only: basically, it consists of media services for journalists.

With this workshop you will experience how to create interviews and news for international media agencies and manage a press conference for an international event (today is a sport event, tomorrow could be a trade show).

The next Olympic games will be in Italy and the Committee is looking for students speaking Asian, European and American languages who also have good writing skills

If selected you will have the opportunity to try the unique experience of following the Olympics in person, attending the competitions, interviewing athletes and working in contact with expert sports reporters from all over the world, in an adrenaline-filled and international context. This is the opportunity that Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, as part of the Education Programme #Gen26, is offering to 10 students from all over Italy (aged 18 to 28) through the 'Olympic Information Service Sports Reporting Programme’.

Students of the International College and Ca’ Foscari are invited to participate in the initiative, which will take place in Aula B, ground floor, Ca' Bottacin

The event will be divided into three parts:
1) introduction to the Olympic Games with a description of the journalistic work carried out during the event by accredited reporters and the Olympic Information Service;
2) description of the methods of participation in the selection of 10 reporters at national level who will be hired for the Milano Cortina 2026 Games;
3) workshop with a simulation of an Olympic press conference and writing of an article in English according to the OIS standard.

This is another cool way to be ambassadors of the International College!

Please take note that you must confirm your presence by Friday, November 8h, replying to this email.
