TOPTEXT: A topological model for delimiting themes in texts

Aula Elena Cornaro - Ca' Bembo

TOPTEXT aims to develop a new method of analysing texts in order to reveal their thematic areas. Unlike NLP methods, TOPTEXT is not based on distributional semantics, but represents sentences and their relations as closed loops embedded in a hypersurface as semantic space. The assumption is that the boundary loops of the corresponding graph delimit the thematic areas of the text.

Speaker: Dr. Dr. Timon Georg Boehm (Stuttgart Research Centre for Text Studies)

Event organizers: Dr. Dr. Timon Georg Boehm, Prof. Claus Zittel
