Rereading Late Antique Sources through the Lens of Magic

Sala A of Ca' Vendramin, Ca' Foscari University of Venice

This event will examine how the lived ancient practices we associate with ancient magic (e.g., apotropaic rituals and exorcisms) might be used as a hermeneutical lens through which we might reimagine early Christian rituals, such as baptism, and late antique poets, such as Nemesianus.
