La “terra do Muene Putu” Lingua e ideologia nella letteratura coloniale portoghese

Aula MF3 - Polo Didattico San Basilio

On the basis of examples taken from some literary works representative of the different periods covered, the seminar will investigate how the literary representation of African languages was conceived according to specific aesthetic and ideological criteria, from the first examples of literature produced in Angola at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (characterising a society affected by diglossia phenomena) to colonial literature (a vehicle for stereotyping and stigmatising Africans or consolidating the luso-tropicalist imaginary).

Speaker: Eugenio Lucotti (CEComp - Universidade de Lisboa)
