Structure of the CLAB2 test

The computerised B2 English test is divided into four parts, total duration 1 hour 30 minutes:

  • Listening Test (25 minutes), 3 audio passages with multiple-choice and true/false questions. Each audio passage can be listened to twice;
  • Grammar Test (20 minutes), 40 sentences to be completed from a choice of three alternatives;
  • Vocabulary Test (15 minutes), 20 sentences on specific topics to be completed from a choice of three alternatives;
  • Reading Test (30 minutes), 3 passages from a novel, a journalistic article and a cultural based text, with multiple-choice and true/false questions.

The duration of each test is indicated by a countdown timer.

The oral test, lasting 30 minutes, is taken in groups of 4 students and consists of interactive tasks, speaking to the other students and to a native speaker language expert, who moderates the test.

The oral interview tests the following skills: Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Interactive Communication.

Exam topics

The computer-based test and the oral test form a single exam; admission to the oral test is subject to passing the PC test and will take place on the days following it.

The pass mark is a minimum score of 60/100 in the computer-based test and 12/20 in the oral test.
