Unlimited entry subject to assessment of minimum requirements.
Quota reserved to non-EU students residing outside Italy: 5 seats, 2 of which is reserved for Chinese students, living in China, studying under the Marco Polo Project.

Admission requirements

To be admitted to this Master's Degree Programme students must possess a proper individual educational background and the minimum curricular requirements. A certified knowledge of English at minimum level B2 is also required.

Personal preparation checks are compulsory.

Admission with international qualification

Applicants with international qualification must have obtained a bachelor’s degree that is the result of at least 3 years of study. The preliminary evaluation of the qualification is mandatory. Procedures and deadlines are available on the dedicated online platform.
International qualification will be evaluated by the designated teaching committee after the pre-evaluation procedure carried out on the online platform.

Course overview

The master's degree in Digital and Public Humanities integrates humanities and IT disciplines and supports the promotion and dissemination of culture.

Students learn to become experts in the design, production and enhancement of web resources, experts in the digital management of cultural resources and experts in Public Humanities. Graduates will be able to hold positions of responsibility in activities connected to the service sector, the culture industry, cultural institutes and specific centres, such as specialised electronic publishing, the management, presentation and enhancement of cultural heritage and resources, intercultural activities and activities tied to user interaction through social media and social networks.

This course is taught entirely in English.

Specifically, the areas of study will include: computer science, linguistics and literature, history, law, arts, manuscript and archival studies. Lectures will be combined with practical laboratory activities in collaboration with the Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities at the Department of Humanities. The course also includes 150 hours of internship to be completed in companies or external organisations and institutions, even abroad, which must provide students with professional and technical skills to be applied in the world of work and research.

Examination assessment and graduation

The educational activities include classroom teaching, workshops and internships, in order to acquire wide-ranging skills that can be readily transferable to the world of work.
During the whole university career, the various skills and knowledge acquired by students will be assessed through written and oral examinations.

The final examination consists of the presentation and public discussion of a written report or commentary on an application, prepared by the student under the guidance of their supervisor(s) assigned during their internship; the final examination will focus on a research and/or development project in the digital and/or public humanities and must be original and relevant from a scientific and/or application point of view.
The work must demonstrate advanced knowledge of the subject matter, critical thinking skills, an aptitude for working independently and good communication skills.
