Interview SANTIAGO FERNÁNDEZ MOSQUERA (UNIVERSIDADE DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, SPAIN)

1.   Please provide a brief outline of your training and scientific activity.

My academic activity takes place at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in the Departmento de Lengua y Literatura Españolas, Teoría de la Literatura y Lingüística General. I am a full professor of Spanish literature, specializing in Golden Age literature. Within this field, I dedicate myself particularly to the study of the work of Francisco de Quevedo and Calderón de la Barca. I have published fifteen books and more than a hundred papers on these subjects. I have directed ten PhD. theses on the same subject and I am currently the coordinator of three research projects and of the Inditex Chair at the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh).

  1. Please state your reasons for choosing Venice and the Department for your research and teaching stay.

The research carried out at the Ca'Foscari DLCCS in the field of Spanish literature of the Golden Age is the greatest incentive to attend this university. The Asociación Internacional Siglo de Oro conference was held at this university in 2014, of which I have been vice-president, president and now honorary president. The Rassegna Iberistica review, founded by two great Hispanists, Franco Meregalli and Giuseppe Bellini, is an obligatory reference in our field. And at this time, professors Enric Bou, María del Valle Ojeda, Elide Pittarello and Adrián Saez are inexcusable references in the field of research on the Golden Age and Hispanic literature.

  1. Have you ever had a research collaboration with the teaching staff of Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies in the past?

I have been a referee for the review Rassegna Iberistica and collaborated directly with Professor Adrián Saez; in addition to having direct relations with the field of study of the Venetian theater of Carlo Gozzi.
