Call for expression of interest: Tenure-track Assistant Professor (RTT) in Public Economics

The Department of Economics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice invites expressions of interest for a position as Tenure-track Assistant Professor - RTT (Assistant Professor becoming Associate Professor after a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 years, upon evaluation) in Public Economics, in the area of evidence-based policy, including research making use of randomized control trials and field experiments. The position comes with a moderate teaching load (around 90 hours of lectures per year) and benefits of a very competitive salary for the first three years, thanks to the top-up Marco Fanno Fellowships financed by Unicredit Foundation. Knowledge of Italian is not required. Starting date: no later than June 2024. Deadline: 4 December 2023.

The position is linked to the 2023-2027 “Departments of Excellence” Program awarded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. This funding aims at expanding the research agenda of the Department of Economics, by studying policies and interventions that can improve people’s quality of life and contrast new forms of economic vulnerability. Specifically, the program will investigate interventions that can contrast inequality, poverty, and other forms of economic and social exclusion, arising as a result of - amongst others - demographic changes, market imperfections and limitations to market participations, financial crisis and impoverishment, climate deterioration, etc. The appointee is expected to collaborate with the other researchers recruited (also) through the 2023-2027 “Departments of Excellence” program, to contribute to the research activities defined by the project leader. The research team will benefit of a generous budget supporting the Program, including dedicated funding to conduct field experiments (about 500K Euro).

The starting yearly gross salary - net of employer-paid social security contributions - for a RTT Assistant Professor is equal to about € 44.200. For the first three years, this amount will be increased to about € 64.200 thanks to the top-up Marco Fanno Fellowships financed by Unicredit Foundation. The salary is subject to employee-paid social security contributions and Italian income tax. Depending on individual circumstances (e.g., being non-Italian resident for the past two years), the successful candidate may qualify for generous tax exemption.
