MADME 2025

MADME 2025
Multi-Agent Data-driven Modelling in Economics, 29-30/05/2025, Venice

Conference

We are delighted to invite you to the first international conference on Multi-Agent Data-driven Modelling in Economics (MADME 2025) which will be held in Venice, Italy, on May 29th-30th, 2025, at the Department of Economics - Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, San Giobbe - Economic Campus.

The aim of this conference is to bring together scholars working on and advancing the state-of-the-art of economic models that include a multiplicity of agents and are empirically grounded in real-world data. Indeed, real-world data are increasingly used to initialise variables, calibrate parameters, perform data assimilation and validate models both at the macroeconomic level and at the level of individual markets or microeconomic phenomena.

The conference is particularly focused on the macroeconomic field. Indeed, the Great Recession prompted extensive theoretical discussions on the shortcomings affecting economic models and their empirical ability to forecast macroeconomic crises. One possible answer comes from developing stock-flow consistent models strongly based on data. In some strands of literature such as for computational general equilibrium (CGE) models, calibration with empirical data such as the social accounting matrix (SAM) is a more established practice. In other strands of literature, such as for agent-based models (ABM), on the other hand, the use of data, such as input-output tables, is a recent methodological acquisition. Therefore, we welcome submissions of any kind of data-driven macroeconomic model (ABM, CGE, DSGE), with particular interest in models addressing the green transition. However, the conference is not restricted to macroeconomic models, but contributions are welcome from all multi-agent data-driven economic models covering individual markets and microeconomic aspects and modelling behavioural rules (goods market or labour market or financial market models, microsimulation models, etc).
