Women´s Struggle for Political Agency: Over a Century of Mobilization

Masterclass with Professor Ruth Rubio Marín

In the framework of the activities of the ERC project “DomEQUAL: A Global Approach to Paid Domestic Workers’ Rights and Social Inequalities”, Professor Ruth Rubio Marín is giving an advanced lecture on women´s involvement in constitution-making around the world. By taking the case of campaigns for women’s suffrage and gender quotas, and by looking at women´s contemporary struggles in constitutionmaking, the lecture will reflect on common features across time and geography in women´s struggle for political and constitutional agency, from an intersectional perspective.

BIO
Ruth Rubio Marín is full professor in constitutional law at the University of Sevilla, Spain. Previously, she has held teaching and research positions at, among others, Princeton University, Queen’s University, Columbia University, New York University, the University of Seville and EUI. Her primary research areas are constitutional law, immigration and nationality law, law and gender, antidiscrimination law, transitional justice and minority rights.

The lecture is open to a maximum of 12 participants (PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and professors) who will need to prepare selected readings before the event.
