Abstract:
This talk summarises some of the research I've done in the last few years.
First, I'll discuss the (frequent) pattern mining problem, for which we devised a solution based on the Minimum Description Length principle.
Second, I'll illustrate our work on the Salient Entity Linking problem, which requires to automatically detect the entities mentioned in a given text and to rank them according to their saliency.
Finally, I'll introduce the Learning-to-Rank problem, with focus on building and using efficient yet accurate models.
